On to the next one…Ho, Ho, Ho

Standard

Throw out the pumpkins, and scary decorations…it’s time for the next Holiday, well kind of.Β Wal-Mart and Target are already ready. Heck, they have been ready for the past month with their shelves already stocked full of Christmas items. Before you know it, Christmas decorations will start coming out with 4TH of July fireworks. You could have Santa flying out of a rocket!

Do you ever wonder what happened to Thanksgiving?? That holiday gets the short end of the stick. The decorations are thrown in with Halloween, a few festive turkey’s here and there, but who can find them over the fake blood and animated life-size murderer’s to put at your front door.

I think there should be a good 2 weeks between the Halloween/Fall decorations, to when the Christmas ones arrive. Isn’t this time of year hectic enough without creating a sense of urgency to buy a tree before the weather even turns cold? I guess if I waited in Florida for the weather to turn cold before I start decorating for the Holidays, I would be waiting closer to Valentine’s day!

I am trying to put the emphasis on being more thankful this year. Hopefully, my thankful vase will help a little. I am also going to refuse to put up Christmas decorations till after Thanksgiving has past. Let’s get through that first! I can only focus on a few things at a time with this older age that has hit me. I think I may make a 10ft sign to put up in my house that says BE THANKFUL this month, and possibly get a pet turkey. My girls might wonder what happens to the turkey when November 24th rolls around. But, I will worry about that a little later! πŸ˜‰

HAPPY NOVEMBER!!

Keep in mind what you are thankful for!! πŸ™‚

  1. So true. I hate the way holidays are so rushed. And I vow not to start Christmas shopping until after Thanksgiving as well. Then again, I’m a last-minute kind of person.

  2. Whole hearted agreement. Thanksgiving should get a good two full weeks all to itself. I say we start a website petition to enourage retailers not to start selling Christmas before Thanksgiving! We won’t buy anything for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Can you imagine that panic that would ensue if Wal-Mart and Target if they had to wait? πŸ™‚

  3. It really is true how early Christmas decorations come out. I’ll be honest, though, I absolutely love Christmas so I don’t mind. Last year I decorated for Christmas on November 1st, haha! Not this year, though. I am waiting a bit longer. πŸ˜‰ I think for me, Thanksgiving and Christmas run together. They are both full of food, family, thankfulness and traditions. So it’s almost like Thanksgiving is a pre-Christmas. And I just happen to like Christmas decor more than Thanksgiving, haha! Anyway, don’t think I’m a terrible person, I just love Christmas! πŸ™‚

    • I love Christmas too! So, I completely understand your decorating early πŸ™‚ I have done it several times and kind of missed celebrating Thanksgiving in the mix of it all. That’s why I am trying to hold off till a little later this year, but it’s going to be hard!!!

  4. I don’t know guys.. I LOVE Christmas… haha I haven’t put lights on my house yet, but I may be one of those people who put them on ridiculously early and keep them on until it’s ridiculously late. =) Not knockin Turkey Day though.. It’s a great holiday too

    • Christmas season does rock!! It is a little hard to get in the full spirit of it while our temperature is still in the 80’s right now! Hopefully it will cool off soon. πŸ™‚

  5. Agree!

In my country though, we don’t have Thanksgiving and we don’t engage much in Halloween parties. Christmas is the big event here. And I just can’t wait to have it in 2011!
